While stress is an unfortunate and unhealthy part of modern life, going on a destructive rampage isn’t usually a socially acceptable way of dealing with it. Enter the Anger Room, an inconspicuous storefront in a Dallas strip mall where fed-up Americans can act out.
Inside, proprietor and founder Donna Alexander and her staff offer up rooms of stuff — TVs, office furniture, glassware — for patrons to smash.
“Stuff that you can’t do to other people, you can do here,” one customer says. “I can’t afford going to the psychiatrist, but I can afford this.”
Okay this might be a reason to visit Dallas

Great moments in pedantry: Winter is coming. But why?
Maggie Koerth-Baker, boingboing.netA work of fiction doesn’t have to be scientifically accurate. It just has to make sense. All it has to do is maintain an internal logic and consistency strong enough that you, the reader, aren’t inadvertently thrown out of the worl…
MAKE | The Four Rocking Horses of the Apocalypse
makezine.comYesterday was 5/12. It’s a date that corresponds with Austin’s 512 area code, I am told, only by auspicious accident. Dozens of makers and hundreds of attendees gathered at the old Pine Street Station and celebrated the first ever…

The Four Rocking Horses of the Apocalypse
John Farrier, neatorama.comAnd I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts o…

Friday and Saturday-Singapore Trip
Today was a travel day. Austin—>Newark New Jersey (4 hour layover)—>Hong Kong (19 hour flight then 2 hour layover) then finally to Singapore.
What do you do with that much time on a plane? I thought I would work on my work stuff (I didn’t). I did read my How to Use Your Camera Better book and I watched a whole lot of movies. They have an in demand movie system. I thought the person next to me and I might chat, but really no. She was interested in her own thing. No worries, didn’t need a new single serving friend. I get to fly business class which is amazing. Crazy full meals. Beds that lie flat.So despite the time, not that bad. Movies I watched:
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (just finished listening to audio book two weeks ago so this was on the list)
The Vow (thought I would fall asleep didn’t)
Moneyball -fell asleep immediately
Moneyball (After my nap I was fully able to enjoy it)
What’s your Number
Oceans 13
Things that made Me Happy: seeing that the steward who moved really fast and looked a little but like a cartoon villain (medium height, slender build, really cue ball bald, buttoned up) was reading sheet music like it was a news paper.

Tiny Salt and Pepper Shakers also make me happy
Hong Kong airport:
Need a watch? So. Many. Watches.
I admit I feel shame at getting Starbucks during the layover. There were other options, but I was tired and decided to buy the corporate standard. I didn’t even get the Green Tea Frapuccino. I;m figuring I’ll have adventures when I land. Airports are odd places to be adventurous.
Things that made Me Happy: There were these stewardesses I’m guessing from a Saudi Arabian airline with hot pantsuits and kind of 50s pillbox hats with partial veils

Foreign Beauty Magazines also make me happy
Finally arrive in Singapore
Blue bayou playing in my cab as I leave the airport
Arrive at the Ritz. Wow are they nice.
The View from my hotel room blew me away.

The view from my bathtub makes me really happy
Finally I must sleep as tomorrow is one of my two free days and I plan to make the most of it.
(Actually it’s now 2+ hours before I have to get up for work on Monday. (I did take a many hour nap earlier but now the time stiff is all wonky. If you want to see the rest of my photos they can be found here-http://www.flickr.com/photos/xoxoxtc/sets/72157629712115474/. I will now attempt to nap.
